Hey there MVPs! Are you looking for a chance to prove your mettle and show the rest of the MultiVersus community what you’re made of? If competition is your thing, Ranked mode is now live in MultiVersus as part of Season 2: Back in Time! We’ve been gathering feedback to help make our new Ranked mode the very best it can be with all-new matchmaking, leaderboards, and rewards. So, what are you waiting for? Jump in and battle your way from Bronze rank all the way to Master rank with a bounty of exclusive goodies to collect along the way. Here are details on what you can expect from the all-new Ranked mode.
Rewards
From Bronze to Master, there are new rewards for every rank you achieve over a season. By advancing through the various ranks, you’ll have a chance to obtain permanent exclusive Variants as well as Banners and Badges that truly showcase your proof of proficiency. Not only will other players be able to quickly identify your skill level, but you’ll be able to show off your hard work and mastery of your favorite characters in battle. While Silver and Gold rank Badges will immediately be rewarded upon rank up, other cosmetic rewards will be activated at the end of each season. You can also look forward to even more ranked goodies in the future, so keep honing your skills and working your way up the ladder!
Requirements
So, what are the requirements and how do you rank up? In order to participate in Ranked mode, you must have a minimum Account Level of 5. In addition to the level requirement, you’ll only be able to participate in Ranked mode with Fighters that you own, and not fighters that happen to be on free rotation. Once you’ve met the above conditions, you’ll be able to queue up in either a 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2 Ranked match. When the match is complete, you’ll see your rank change in real time depending on your win or loss. And you won’t have to wait until the end of the season to see where you stand since your RP (Ranked Points) are all calculated in real time.
Ranking Up & Ranked Points
As you progress, your RP (Ranked Points) will be in plain view. As your RP increases, new ranks and rewards will be achieved. For example, once you’ve spent some time playing and have managed to reach 500 RP, you’ll break into Silver rank. There are five divisions found in Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Master ranks. Your RP is calculated on a Fighter by fighter and mode basis, meaning that climbing to Gold with one fighter in 1 vs. 1 does not affect your other fighters’ ranks, nor does it affect your 2 vs. 2 ranking. So, you might be a Platinum 1 vs. 1 Jason player, but only a Silver 1 vs. 1 Superman player.
Matchmaking
To break this all down, Matchmaking Rating (MMR) determines who your opponents are in MultiVersus. We use Skill Based Matchmaking to match you with players of similar skill level in an effort to provide you with the best ranked experience that you can have. We want Ranked Mode to feel competitive and rewarding, so playing against stronger players helps you climb higher over the long run. There is A LOT of math involved, but let’s just say we’re working toward having a system that challenges you with great opponents of similar skill levels.
Leaderboards
Our new leaderboards are easy to follow with your standings visible per character and mode, meaning that once you reach gold rank with a given Fighter, that fighter will be placed onto the leaderboard for that respective game mode (ranked 1 vs. 1 or ranked 2 vs. 2). You can view your overall rank number for that fighter within the Ranked Event hub. This hub will allow you to view a snapshot of your current placement along with the two players just above you on the leaderboard. By looking at your Career within the hub, you can show off your Season peak rank for both your 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 standings. Additionally, the full leaderboard can be accessed within the hub, showing you the top 100 overall players and the top 100 players for specific fighters.
